SUPERCOMM 2000 Preview
But those in the telecom industry will hardly have time to nest. Instead, attendees--made up of vendors and service providers--will be flitting around the Georgia World Congress Center trying to find the building blocks they need to improve and enhance their networks and service offerings around the world. The Y2K edition of SUPERCOMM will be a preview for the new millennium in telecommunications. And this new millennium is characterized by access agnostic, integrated networks that will continue to meld the telecommunications and computer businesses into one giant industry. All of the new technology, service offerings and partnerships being showcased this year at SUPERCOMM are inspired by the broadband revolution we now are experiencing. And, unlike SUPERCOMMs of yore, it's doubtful that one specific topic or niche market will dominate discussions this year. In this bonus issue of X-CHANGE, we are giving you, our readers, a sneak preview of new products and services that are being demonstrated and, in many cases, are ready for commercial deployment in a variety of different industry niches. One of the highlights, no doubt, will be the burgeoning ASP industry. Partnerships between hardware and software manufacturers in both the telecom and computer industries will be prominently featured. And there will most likely be a slew of actual applications available for use by telecom service providers and other end users. Among the other prominent issues will be optical switching, access and edge products; new DSL gear for service providers and end users; broadband wireless; network management and converged back office systems; and business-to-business e-commerce solutions. So, sit back, while you have the chance, and get up to speed on the hot topics you're sure to see at SUPERCOMM 2000. Until next time,
