AT&T U-verse IPTV Customers Sustain Programming Loss

AT&T Inc. on Monday confirmed a widespread outage with the TV component of its U-verse triple-play bundle, denying a large number of customers programming for much of Sunday.

The carrier said it has launched a full internal review to prevent future incidents.

The video services provider did not say Monday evening if it had found the cause of the outage. AT&T said affected customers, the number of which it did not quantify, were able to receive local SD, HD, VoD and DVR content during the incident,

The outage did not affect Internet service, said an AT&T spokesperson, who said all channels were restored by 7:30 p.m. Central Time Sunday night. In addition to, or as part of, the full internal review, the company says it’s performing a review of its processes.

The IPTV provider said it worked throughout the day “to keep customers informed through our call centers, tech support and online user forum,” said the AT&T spokesperson.
