Next-gen gateway and applications solutions provider GENBAND Inc. made several executive appointments on Tuesday, while its president and CEO Charlie Vogt will join the board of directors at Kentrox Inc. For its part, Kentrox also announced that Richard Cremona will take over at its helm. Fred Kemmerer will become executive vice president and CTO, while Jonathan Hustis has been named as executive vice president and general counsel, and Mehmet Balos will become executive vice president and CMO. John McNamara has been promoted to executive vice president of channels. All will report directly to Vogt. Meanwhile, Vogt has been affiliated with Kentrox as a board member for the past 18 months and now becomes chairman. The maker of automated network maintenance, management and control solutions for mobile service providers and large business enterprises will bring in Cremona, who has held executive positions with AT&T Inc., Lucent, Sprint and, most recently, Openwave, as CEO. As for the GENBAND appointments, Kemmerer will lead its technology office and drive the strategic vision of the company’s industry-leading product portfolio. Kemmerer held a broad range of positions at Lucent Technologies, and later Alcatel-Lucent, before joining GENBAND. Hustis joined GENBAND in October from Oracle Corp., having served 10 years as general counsel at MetaSolv Inc., acquired by Oracle in 2006. Balos has held a variety of executive positions with leading companies, including Actelis, 3COM, Ericsson, AFC (acquired by Tellabs), Pirelli (acquired by Cisco Systems Inc.), ADC and Fujitsu. McNamara is an industry veteran with more than 20 years in the telecommunications industry. He joined GENBAND in 2007 to build on the company’s channel partner program. Prior to GENBAND, he held executive sales positions with Nortel Networks Ltd., Cisco and Siemens Corp. GENBAND www.genband.com
