Humble Pie for Apple?
08/05/2008
Apple Inc. showed a chink in its “we’re the coolest company, like, EVER” attitude Tuesday when CEO and cult figure Steve Jobs admitted that it needed to “learn more about Internet services.” The statement was in a memo, leaked to Ars Technica, regarding the iPhone 3G activation chaos and repeated crashing and bugginess within the MobileMe application, which gives iPhone users access to e-mail, among other things. “It was a mistake to launch MobileMe at the same time as iPhone 3G, iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store. We all had more than enough to do, and MobileMe could have been delayed without consequence," Jobs wrote. The eating of humble pie won’t last too long: Jobs vowed to make MobileMe something Apple can be proud of by the end of the year.
