NXTcomm: Verizon Business Turns Attention to SMBs, Exec Says
Bob Wallace
06/18/2008 Continued from page 1 “We think we already have the right mix of services for SMBs,” said Verizon Business’ Gofus. “As a result, we don’t think it’s necessary to take residential triple play to them.” Verizon’s residential unit already provides its FiOS bundle, for the same monthly price and commitment over its all-fiber network to consumer homes in many of the same markets as incumbent cable operators. The offering is grabbing headlines in part because of its high-speed Internet options. What cablecos have claimed is telco TV operators, such as Verizon, largely have forgotten their SMB customers in their zeal to sell FiOS to home and multidwelling units. “I don’t agree with that claim or that thinking by cable companies,” Gofus said, noting Verizon Business has rolled out a wide and diverse array of enterprise services this year alone, many have been focused on global companies, but not to the exclusion of or detriment to SMBs.
