Tellabs to Fujitsu: You’re Infringing on Our Patents

Tellabs Inc. said on Thursday it’s suing Fujitsu Ltd. and Fujitsu Network Communications Inc. for patent infringement.

Tellabs listed several Fujitsu products in its complaint, including ROADM systems and components Fujitsu uses in its FLASHWAVE line.

Tellabs wants monetary damages and an injunction against Fujitsu to prevent what it says would be future infringement. The Napierville, Ill., company filed its lawsuit yesterday in a federal court for northern Illinois.

Fujitsu did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Tellabs’ common stock was trading at $5 on the Nasdaq during mid-morning activity on Thursday, up 11 cents. Fujitsu’s stock was down 3 percent on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
