Telx Expands Data Center in Chicago
06/23/2008
Telx has acquired additional colocation data center space in Chicago, IL. The 5,000 square feet of fully conditioned data center colocation space can accommodate 200 cabinet equivalents and will seamlessly connect to the existing Telx Meet Me Room. This acquisition is the third in the second quarter of 2008, following data center expansions in New York at 60 Hudson Street and 111 8th Avenue. 350 East Cermak is the primary communications interconnection building in Chicago. This data center expansion highlights the continuing strong demand Telx is seeing from companies across various vertical markets, including both the financial sector and the traditional service provider sectors. Also, network demand is increasing due to the growth of communications traffic between the New York and Chicago markets. “350 East Cermak in Chicago is where you meet most of the global networks. Anyone that has their own network facilities, has space in the building either in the Meet Me Room or the building itself,” stated Shane Hampton, Vice President, and Market Development for Business Only Broadband. “Telx provides a fundamental service in the Chicago market offering infrastructure to facilitate cross-connections to an array of global networks and end users.” The expansion data center space at 350 East Cermak in Chicago is ready for immediate occupancy.
