COMPTEL: US Signal Adds Wholesale MPLS
02/25/2008
US Signal (Booth 218), a fiber-optic carrier operating in the Midwest, announced at COMPTEL PLUS it has expanded its wholesale product portfolio with the addition of Wholesale MPLS Services. US Signal Wholesale MPLS Services give carriers and wholesalers access to US Signal’s Cisco-powered MPLS network, enabling them to reach customer locations that may be too expensive to reach with traditional transport options. US Signal’s SONET-protected MPLS network supports the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Static or Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routing protocols. Solutions can be engineered to connect customer sites or to deliver traffic to the carrier provider across a US Signal Network to Network Interconnection (NNI). The NNI option is fully compliant with RFC 4364 and can be configured in any of US Signal’s 100 PoPs in the Midwest using a variety of handoffs, such as Fast Ethernet, gigabit Ethernet and SONET. “Demand for transport over MPLS networks has been increasing in the wholesale space,” said Kirk Dombek, director of product management for US Signal. “US Signal is addressing this demand by opening the network to partners who value the simplicity, scalability and reliability of MPLS Services.” US Signal also offers dark fiber and colocation services, and works with customers to design and build new network construction projects.
